The common and scientific name of the disease.

Salmonella enterica is the scientific name of Salmonella that cause food poisoning.

What causes it? How is it transmitted?

Salmonella contaminated the eggs by the tiny pores on the egg shell or cracked shell. The infected female chicken can also pass the bacteria to the eggs. When people eat food that Salmonella exits in it the Salmonella get through the intestine, and produce a substances call Toxins that damage and kill the cells in the intestine.

What are the symptoms?

-abdominal cramps

How long do they last? Is it deadly?

The diarrhea typically lasts 24 to 72 hours and the other nonspecific symptoms lasting 7 days or longer. It is primarily deadly to the elder and the people who were already suffering from the ill health but for most of the healthy people salmonella is not deadly.

How are Salmonella infections treated?

Different doctors recommend different treatment. Some doctors recommend no antibiotics since the disease is self-limited. Others suggest using antibiotics for 10-14 days. The Patients patients with AIDS or undergoing cancer chemotherapy should receive antibiotics because they are identified as immunosuppressed.
