Anemia is a common type of nutritional disorder where your body is in lack of blood.
Common Types of Anemia
Iron deficiency Anemia
Lack of iron can cause lack of hemoglobin production.
Sickle Cell Anemia
Sickle cell Anemia is usually caused by hereditary, the shape of the cell is different from normal cells and it breaks down faster then normal cells as well.
Sickle cells and normal red blood cells
What causes it? How is it transmitted?
- A poor diet/eating disorder
A Deficiency of iron, folic acid or vitamin B12 caused from an eating disorder or a poor diet can lead to Anemia, without these irons and vitamins your body in enable to make red blood cells.
- Blood loss
Blood loss from surgeries and injuries can lead to Anemia as well, but this will recover after the body's condition is back to normal.
- Hereditary
Due to genes/genes mutation.
What are the symptoms? How long do they last? Is it deadly?
The symptoms are: -pale skin -headaches -low body temperature -weakness -shortness of breath -dizziness -fatigue -irritability -numb hands/feet
As long as the disease is not treated, the symptoms will stay. This can be deadly because red blood cells carry oxygen around the body, which if you don't have enough red blood cells you won't have enough oxygen.
Can it be cured? If so, how? If not, is there any way that we can at least treat it?
Yes, it can be cured, depending on the type of anemia and the situation. Some might have to take medicines like vitamins and irons which may eventually cure this disease.
